February 21-27

My mom visited Prague on Wednesday. It was a very cold day but we traveled all over Prague looking for the perfect chairs for the dining table. We liked one type in TON but I don't think we'll get it. We had lunch with my sister and she showed us pictures of her new flat. The best part was the fabric store by Náměstí Míru, we got some really cute and cheap fabrics!
On Thursday I met with Jana at Starbucks and we caught up on each others lives, she wants me to teach her English :)
On Friday I went to IKEA with Justin and we bought bunch of stuff. We had to use the coupons we had since Christmas so we bought a new double sink for the bathroom, a computer desk and a shelf for my scrapbooking papers! :) We also picked out the mattresses and dropped them off in Milovice.
We spent the weekend in Strakonice because Renda, Vincent and Yasmina were visiting. We went for a very long walk and ended up at grandma's. Yasmina was very cute and everyone loved the quilt my mom made for her.
On Sunday Justin and I drove to Milovice and moved some stuff from Strakonice. We put together my shelf unit and the desk but couldn't figure out how to put the light on the ceiling. I love my new scraproom and can't wait to use it!

February 15 - 20

Busy week for both of us! I started school and even went to an interview but didn't get the job (which I wouldn't take anyways). We went to Hornbach and paid for the new counter top for our kitchen. They delivered it to Milovice for cheap so that was easy :) On the weekend we took a bus to Čimelice and met my parents there. We went to SIKO and picked out tiles for the kitchen! Another step closer to our new home :)

February 14

I started school today and didn't get home until 8.30 pm! Justin made dinner for us and we exchanged little gifts :) I bought him a bottle of Chile wine from Friends Coffee House and 4 pralines that a former Starbucks employee makes by hand! Yum. I got Lindt chocolate bon bons :) Yum. We had a great relaxing evening together.

February 13

Justin and I traveled from Strakonice to Prague in the afternoon. We went to a restaurant called Pod Věží since we had a coupon from my sister. I didn't expect much but was surprised how it turned out! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was very romantic and pleasant. We celebrated Valentine's Day early with a three course menu and a bottle of yummy red wine. We'll be back since we have another coupon :)

February 7-10

I was sick so I stayed home most of the time. Justin took great care of me, he cooked meals and brought me treats :) We watched bunch of movies and TV shows. We made a trip to a furniture store to look at some dining tables but I think we'll settle with the one from IKEA.
We also had to go to Milovice to clean the hallway so we got to see the place. There wasn't much progress since the last time I was there but I hope we'll be moving soon!!!

February 5 - 6

On Saturday my cough got worse so Justin went and got me some medicine. He also cooked a delicious soup for lunch (I helped) and yummy pork tenderloins with baked potatoes for dinner! We watched some movies and TV shows. I slept till 11.15am on Sunday! Justin was at church playing guitar so I got up and made cofee, browsed the Internet and started scrapbooking. When he got home we had leftover soup and he also cooked pasta with blue cheese sauce with mushrooms. He even went to pick up dessert from Pauls and when he got back he surprised me with a bunch of flowers! I made him coffee and we watched a movie. I love the weekends!

February 4

I stayed in bed because my cough got worse. Justin brought me lunch, in the evening we made topinky with garlic, eggs and cheese. I hate being sick but I like it when Justin takes care of me :)

February 3

I woke up in the middle of the night with a soar throat :( Justin got up around 9am but I didn't even hear him. I got up after he left but felt pretty weak. I had to go to school to work on a computer because I needed to do this task in Excel. I applied for a job and this was part of the process. We'll see how that turns out. We ate lunch at the Indian place with Justin. I bought stuff for dinner and went home. I didn't stay long though because I promised to see Martina at Starbucks. The Chai tea helped my throat a little. I came home with Justin and we made a delicious pizza and watched Tangled :)

February 2

We had a lazy morning with Justin. After he left for work my parents came. My dad had to go but me and my mom went to Hornbach and ordered the counter top for my kitchen! Then we went to IKEA, had a great lunch and dessert and were just enjoying browsing the store. My dad called so we went back home and met him and we all drove to Milovice with the floor in the car! We met the workers and dad gave them instructions on what to do next. The place looks better every time I visit! I can't wait for it to be done. Some time next week I need to pick the paint for the walls and also new flooring for my scrap room since the leaking heater damaged the floor that was there. Oh well, that shouldn't be a big problem. After they paint the walls they will put the floor in and then we can finally start shopping for some furniture, yay :)

February 1

I went to Prague in the morning. The weather was really cold so I stayed home and Justin brought us lunch :) I signed up for my classes for next semester and left to meet the girls from my old school in Šlágr. Yum, the pudding cake was delicious as usual. We celebrated Lucka's Mgr. and Verča's PhDr. :) Justin made dinner - pasta with meat sauce that he usually uses for lasagna but on the spaghetti it wasn't that great... Oh well, that's ok, food fills the stomach! :)

January 31

I am still in Strakonice. I was busy cleaning and cooking with mom. Valentýna came over in the afternoon and I watched her while mom and my aunt went to their yoga class. We had fun playing with stickers and making bead necklaces with beads that glow in the dark! I was exhausted though and fell asleep while watching the news.

January 30

We all drove to Zahorčice since it´s my grandma´s birthday. Mom made delicious věnečky and there was plenty of other food. Justin drove to Prague with my sister, I stayed here.

January 28 - 29

I visited Martina at work and called my scrapbooker friend Danča, she was home so I came over and we talked about scrapbooking and her store etc. :) I met Justin on my way back, we brought home dinner and after we ate it Justin left to Friends Coffee, I went to Vanity with the girls and Martin. It was his birthday so some of his friends showed up as well. We went dancing and lasted through the night. We stopped at Archa and had coffee there. I was exhausted, Justin was worried that I wasn´t home when he woke up :) So I brought him some White Mocha and we had breakfast. My sister picked us up in the afternoon and we drove to Strakonice.

January 27

Justin is feeling a bit sick, his throat hurts. He had to work though. I was cleaning and scrapbooking, I made a card for Martin's birthday. I went to Starbucks in the afternoon, I saw Angelo, I talked to Martina about the birthday party and then we went to Palladium, I wanted to buy some shirt or something but they didn't have anything. Gosh, I don't like shopping for clothes in Czech! I went home and made mac&cheese for dinner. Justin made tea with slivovice and felt much better :)

January 26

Justin was at work and I slept till 8.45. Soon after I got up I realized my friend is coming over at 9am! I took a quick shower, cleaned the room a bit and still made it in time to pick her up at the tram stop :) Lucy brought her laptop and we were making shapes for the Silhouette machine, the shapes will match her stamps she makes. How fun and exciting! I hope the business goes well. We spent the whole morning working on this project. In the evening I made dinner (french potatoes) and was supposed to meet Martina at 9pm. She wasn't there so I went to Vanity by myself but Markéta nad Martin were already there. We didn't stay late, I was home by midnight.

January 25

Tuesday. I was on my way to Starbucks but I called my cousin and she said she's going for a walk so I joined her. The weather was nasty, rain with snow. We went over to her place and hung out, Yasmina is so cute, she was smiling at me all the time. I got home a little before Justin and we had a small dinner.

January 24

I was lazy but Justin was working hard so I made him lunch - crepes. In the evening we went to Hornbach and picked out the colors for the walls and even the counter top for the kitchen! Yay!

January 23

We went back to Prague in the evening but still had time to visit IKEA. We picked out a new dining table and chairs, it's a cheaper one than the one we wanted originally but this one will match the floor better. Then we did some grocery shopping at Tesco and went home, exhausted.

January 22

We picked up our package from US at the post office, did some shopping afterwards. When we got home we unwrapped the gifts, some treats, coffee and cute socks and place mats and bunch of Justin's old Christmas tree ornaments! :) Justin played Wii for most of the day. We visited grandmom and Ája and her whole family was there. The kids were cute and loud :) I went to Písek in the evening to visit Lenka so we spent some good time talking about everything and we even exchanged Christmas gifts, I got some nice fruit teas and earrings :)

January 21

I went to Starbucks with Justin in the morning because he was teaching at Google. While we were getting our coffees Justin noticed his student is sitting in the cafe :) He told me he knows my classmate, small world! I hung out at Starbucks until Justin was done and picked me up. I bought a train ticket to Milovice because I had to be there at 4pm - the guy from the door company was coming to measure the doors. Justin was supposed to teach but he called me that his class got canceled so we traveled together. The place looks really cool now with the space they added to the hallway. I can't wait for it to be done. We traveled back to Prague and took a bus to Strakonice at 7pm. Dad made us a really good dinner - chicken pieces with spicy sauce and toasts with garlic!

January 20

Despite having a day off I spent it at home with a headache, unable to do anything productive. I don't have any pictures or don't even remember what we had for dinner.

January 19

I had to get up early to take the test but Justin got to sleep in! We met afterwards, I went home though and Justin picked up pizzas for lunch. We watched a funny TV show called Modern Family, ate pizzas, laughed... life is good.
We went to a little place at Novodvorská to look at the flooring material we picked out. We had to choose between two types but I think we chose wisely:

Justin had to go to work after that, I spent the afternoon being lazy. I deserve it! I am done with my exams and school doesn't start until February 14 :)

January 18

Justin didn't have to work in the morning so we went to the store at Švandovo Divadlo and ordered our mattresses! They were a bit pricier than we expected but that's because they didn't have the kind we wanted so we decided to buy a better one and a little more expensive. I think the price was reasonable though.
We had lunch at the new sandwich place at Karlovo and then I met Tereza because I had to borrow her calculator. I walked to Starbucks and started studying, Petra came a bit later and we studied for a few hours. I hope we're ready for tomorrow's test from Statistics!
Justin made broccoli soup for dinner,  with parmesan cheese and bread from our favorite bakery.

January 17

After my exam I met Justin and we bought some treats at the bakery at Karlovo. I went home afterwards and enjoyed the fresh rohlíky with butter and cup of coffee. I started preparing for my test which takes place on Wednesday.
I also called dad and discussed Milovice, they are close to being finished with the base for the floor so we need to order the flooring. We counted the years I have been living in this tiny flat and got to a number of 7 full years! Wow! Seems like yesterday when I was sharing this room with my sister, then with Dana, then alone and then with Justin! He has been the best roommate :)

January 16

Still studying for my exam. I can't focus anymore so I happily distract myself with Facebook and other Internet forums.
Justin played guitar today at church so I decided to go despite the fact that I really needed to study. I didn't have time to stop and chat with friends though, we left home in a hurry partially because we were starving. Last nights chilli con carne was even better today and we decided to make something new with it - we layered tortilla chips, chilli, cheese, chips, chilli, cheese etc. and baked it. Yum! Even better than straight up! We weren't even hungry in the evening but we planned to meet Martina and Markéta at the Bohemian Bagel and use our vouchers for burgers. The burgers were huge and quite tasty. We had to wash them down with some shots of Becherovka when we got home.

January 15

Oh, how I love weekends when I wake up next to my husband and we can spend the whole day together.
I was studying and Justin was cooking lunch - a really yummy chilli con carne! It was delicious. We packed some and brought it to Martina at Starbucks. She liked it as well :) We had coffee and then went home. I needed to study but it's exhausting just sitting at a table and staring at the computer screen, making notes. I wanted to watch something stupid so Justin loaded this movie called Kick Ass. It was too dumb so I was reading a book and then we just turned it off and went to bed.

January 14

I met Renda at Letná and we went for a walk through the park. The water in the river is pretty high! Yasmina was sleeping the whole time. We ended up in a cafe Erhartova cukrárna and had a yummy cake and tea. Yasmina woke up and was smiling at me :) She looks just like her daddy. We decided to walk through the park Stromovka all the way to Dejvická. We walked by the french cheese store (you could smell it from far away :), the italian restaurant that the famous guy owns and even by the 12 lofts which look hideous. I took a bus to Kavalírka just in time to catch the guy who measures our water and heating usage. Justin came home, changed and we left to Palladium to pick up a book for me :) The very first book in Czech about scrapbooking! After that Justin went to Friends Coffee to meet the guys from the Bible study. I went to Starbucks to say hi to Martina and then joined Justin. We had baguettes from the cafe and a really yummy Chile wine. What a busy day, my legs hurt today from all the walking!

January 13

Justin got up early to teach his last morning class in Exxon. I had to be at school at 8.30 am, I took a test from Accounting.
I prepared an order for one customer from Fler, here is a picture of the die cuts I made using the Silhouette machine:

I had lunch with Justin at Arslan Kebap, yum :)
When he got home in the evening I made pasta with alfredo sauce. We opened a bottle of wine that Justin got from his student, I didn't really like it. Justin fell asleep while I was browsing the Internet :)

January 12

In the morning the sun was shining and dark clouds were coming, that's when I snapped this photo from our window (beautiful view, isn't it)I was studying all day, met a couple friends later in the afternoon and we studied some more. I was sick of being at home so me and Justin had dinner at Corte D'Angelo, yum! I had wild mushroom risotto and Justin had a good pizza.

Wednesday, January 12, 2011

January 11

I was studying for most of the day. I cooked yummy mushroom soup and went to meet Lucka. She got her Christmas gifts and really liked them :) Justin was home when I got back, he was tired so we spent the night watching a tv show.

January 10

Again, no pictures :(
I spent the morning studying with a group of friends from school. Then I came home and worked on a paper. Justin had a long day at work, he got home a little after 7pm. We had kachna for dinner :) We watched some TV shows and went to bed - nothing special but we were both tired and needed some rest, especially because Justin got up at 6am the next day.

Sunday, January 9, 2011

January 9

We played Wii all day and had kachna for lunch, yum! My sister drove us back to Prague, we went shopping to Makro and bought a huge chunk of parmesan cheese :) I don't have any pictures from this day.

Saturday, January 8, 2011

January 8

We had really good breakfast at Starbucks - Toffee Nut Latte, sweet treats from Paul's and some bread and ham. Me and Martina shared some funny stories from our nights out :) We traveled to Strakonice with Justin and just hung out. Grandma is in hospital, I hope she'll feel better soon. Justin played Wii for most of the day and evening. Relaxing day but I have to study harder tomorrow since I haven't done anything today.

January 7

After cleaning our flat we decided to go out since it was David's last night in Prague. He met some Norwegians and we all went to the Beer Museum.

We tried different kinds of beer including a blueberry flavored one :)

Later that night we moved next door to Vanity bar, had some shots and beers, talked to Martin Lotter a little bit and watched David lose a bet with Jan in who can drink more beers :) We walked the guys back and stopped for a quick snack at McDonalds. It was so fun! We got home at around 4.30am!

Friday, January 7, 2011

January 6

I wrote a test from Geography of Culture and then met Justin for lunch. We ate at the Indian restaurant. In the evening we went shopping to Tesco and bought stuff for sushi, yum! We just stayed home and relaxed, watched Alias and went to bed.

Wednesday, January 5, 2011

January 5

While Ola was studying for her test, Justin was working. In the evening however we both hung out with our friends. First I (Ola) met with my classmates from Charles University. Lucka was sick but everyone else made it. We ate at McDonalds and exchanged Christmas gifts :) The girls loved the calendars I made them. Justin met his friend David from US and I went and had a beer with them as well.

January 4

While Justin was working all day, I left Strakonice in the morning. On my way to Prague with my parents we stopped at a place where we picked new doors for the flat. We drove all the way to Milovice and found out that the workers had already torn off the floors and wallpaper in the kitchen and the hallway! Nice job. We measured everything and decided on a few things that need to be done. We even decided to get a new counter-top for the kitchen, a white one will look much better.
Dad dropped me and mom at IKEA so we had lunch and walked through the store. My sister met us at Karlovo, I bought the really good bread for my parents and they loved it.
Finally I met with Justin at Anděl and we went home, watched some TV shows and ate dinner. It's good to be back together :)

January 3

Today we woke up in Strakonice. It was kinda strange because we are usually in Prague by Monday because I (Justin) gotta work. But this time we stayed in Prague for the weekend (for New Years) and then traveled to Strakonice on Sunday afternoon.

When we started to wake up in the morning, my wife asked me, with half open eyes, "What time is it?" It was at this point I decided to play a little trick on my wife. I didn't know what time it was but judging by the soreness in my back, and the light outside I guessed it was 8:30 or 9:00. I was right, but I told Ola,

"It's 7:00."

Her eyes opened wide, "7:00! I'm going back to sleep!" and she closed her eyes with a very determined look to get some serious sleeping done. I started laughing and told her it was 9:00.

I guess you had to be there... it was funny... trust me.

Later that day I went to Prague and Ola stayed in Strakonice. She was mostly relaxing and working on some homework for school. In Prague I had to teach a class and later that night I met up with Dave Uhr. He is an old friend from growing up and it was good to see him. I took him to a bar near my house called Satellite and we had dinner and couple of beers. It was good times. Perhaps later in the week we will get together again.

Random thought: David told me about a mutual friend who made New Year's resolution to do 1 push up every day per day of the year. For example, on Jan. 1 he would do 1 push up, on Jan. 2 he would do 2 push ups all the way to the end of the year until on Dec. 31 he would do 365 push ups. quite a feat if you think about. Some people might be able to do 365 push ups in one day but probably not the day after doing 364 push ups and doing 363 push ups the day before that. In fact, I think his life will be hell come June. There is NO WAY I could do that! Anyway it got me thinking.... is there anything I could do everyday like that? Here is a list of things that I think I could do:

  • 1 minute of videos games a day (Dec. 31 wold be about 6 hours of video games)
  • spend 1 crown a day (believe it or not that would be a total of 66,795 Kc in a year! or about $3,563)
  • Or even better... save 1 Crown a day! :)
  • walking steps
  • bicycle 1 meter a day
  • read 1 word a day
  • charge my iPhone
What could you do?

January 2

In the morning Justin overslept because the alarm clock on his iPhone doesn't work (due to some technical problem because the year changed)! While he was playing guitar at church, I stayed home and cleaned and packed our stuff. We drove to Strakonice with my aunt and uncle. After a quick lunch we took out the new Wii Fit Plus and played all different games and tried some workouts. Everyone loved it, mom is really good at yoga! I can't wait to have a new place with our TV and work out every night (ok, maybe not that often but it's fun!).

January 1, 2011

First day of the year. The sun was shining and we decided to go for a walk in the neighborhood. We came across an old farmhouse Cibulka which has been devastated. I was brainstorming some ideas what could be done with that place if someone wanted to invest in it. Kids were sledding down the big hill. We went home and cooked good lunch - steak and mashed potatoes, then discussed our budget for the next year, purchasing of new furniture and lights etc. Justin made quiche for dinner.
